I wandered what was bathing in the sunken green bowl by the Viburnum. The Third photo shows the bathing Bird sat in the water. He seems to be jumping in and out of the water. The Viburnum had a trim today to make it smaller for the small garden. The birds were out in force afterwards exploring my handywork, where bare branches are now visible at the base. Its so windy again that the fence has been rattling. I repaired the back fence and then a gust of wind ripped the side fence apart again.Sigh :)
I think the fencing is as old as the Ghostly gardener who originally planted the Viburnum, Geraniums, and the mystery bulbs.
My seed potatoes came yesterday from Marshalls with the rectangular grow bags. Fran will have one bag and the three baby seed potatoes. I have six sat in an egg box chitting now. They can be started off in the kitchen then moved outside when it warms up. They are early growing pot's so should have them in ten weeks from planting...
Todays photos are still to come of Robins, Polyanthus, and Cape Primroses...

Hils brought the new Bird bath in on Monday. I hope they use it to drink and bath...

A new Bird for the Garden.I dont know what it is yet. I need to read my Bird books and try to identify him. He picked up the seeds that have dropped from the red net bag that is on the fence post...

The Blue Tit stretching his neck to admire the new bell shaped seed feeder!

Another Unknown bird.I thought it was a Blackbird but it is not I dont think. He fed off the ground near the Bird table..

Ding Dong. Bird seed in a Bell shape. Fran brought it this morning along with the Dogwood, and a DVD player. The fruit cane is now holding it aloft.I love the acrobatic birds balancing on it as it swayed in the wind. They found it within five minutes off me placing it outside.

The Solar Light, one of four outside now in the Left hand Border. They must have charged the battery before they packed them. I just removed a red tag and it came on.I think night lights add magic to a garden, and mean you can see it differently at night, compared to the Daytime.
A day of gifts, shopping, and birds...

This is one of the Birds water containers.I bought two shallow green plastic bowls which I have sunk into the ground and surrounded them with stones. They have square edges which are not as deep. The Hellebore Nigra is posing by the water bowl.
I dont want the birds drowning in the bowls like someone said could happen.
I was woken up at half one by the delivery man with a long rectangular box.Inside was a Mallus Braeburn, my Patio Apple tree.
It was contained in a green tall plastic container like a water dispenser. I have repotted it in a larger container.I need to buy a large pot for it so the roots can spread. It has one bud on it. The blurb said it would fruit in its first year!
Its hard to imagine as it is a couple of sticks in a pot at the moment! I guess gardeners need vivid imaginations to visualise a plant in its full potential.
I watched the birds again today. The bird table and ground feeder are hives of activity now with birds flying in, grabbing some seed, then flying off.
The Robin watched me water the apple tree from the top of the fence. He is guarding his territory but there are a lot of birds flying in for free seed!
I like the two water containers, I looked at Better Home and Garden website. They made a bird bath from concrete poured into a bowl shaped recess in the soil, and decorated it with crushed coloured glass.
My two small bowls will do untill I get some proper bird water baths, or make a small pond. The garden is slowly turning into an oasis for wildlife, roll on Spring and Summer.Who knows what visitors I will have.
