20*, 73% humidity, W 6 mph wind, fair Sasha yesterday was not feeling good at all. She had the dry heaves, trying her best to throw up. I'm blaming the pain meds, I know they do the same thing to me. So I have not given her any today to see how she does though this morning she seems to be feeling better and ate with the appetite of a puppy. Yesterday, she was doing her hardest to get to some

I have some herbs already in the yard, this list will be of new ones I am starting this year. Catnip- I've already started it in the house. The cats help me keep the seedlings pinched so they will grow bushy. These were Ferris Morris seeds.Peppermint Mentha x piperita-- Already started in the house. I wouldn't mind at all if this escaped into the lawn...The seeds were a freebie from Celestrial

Slim Jim Eggplant--OP from Pinetree Garden Seeds. I've grown eggplants way back in ca, haven't tried growing them in IN. I don't like the big kinds. YUCK and I don't eat enough of them to grow a lot, so slim jim seemed to be the perfect one for me to try.Corn, sweet- Kandy Korn--Not OP, being surround by corn fields makes it darn near impossible to want to save seeds from corn. So I may as well

16*, 90% humidity, calm winds, foggy, FLOOD WARNING My pepper list is not quite as extensive nor impressive as my tomato list. I think they are just harder to grow for me, and I see much less output for the input I put into them. Still, a fresh organic sweet pepper is better then anything store bought. I grow hot peppers only for my husband, who can eat a habanaro raw. You think I kid, but I

31*, feels like 25*, 54% humidity, SW 6 mph wind, fair, FLOOD WARNING It seems like this time of year, despite the fact that I have MORE THEN ENOUGH seed to last a life time, I can not resist browsing the seed racks. I mean catalogues are bad enough, but at least you can't pick up the packets, shake em around to listen to the seeds, smell them, feel their pretty glossy pictures......It seems no

23*, feels like 13*, 66% humidity, S 9 mph wind, fair I spent 3 days sick (it wasn't a hang over after all, but a case of eating BAD SHRIMP at a party), and so have not started working on my new healthy habits for 08. These habits include everything from eating locally, exercising more (you will have to see my other blog tired soles for this) and getting back on the more sustainable lifestyle

I have a little problem.

I've been drawing flies. Now before I get any "maybe you should shower more often comments", they are not THOSE kind of flies. These are those annoying little flies that flit about the soil of houseplants, so I came up with a possible solution (and an excuse to harbor more plants....) How about a bug eating plant? This one was practically FREE. I didn't know it was on clearance when I picked it

31*, feels like 20*, 78% humidity, WSW 16 mph wind, cloudy I have a new lover. His name is Penstemon smallii. I bumped into him at the clearance table at the nursery in late summer. At first I wasn't too impressed with him. He seemed....cheep. So I did a background check on him and found out that they tend to like a more dry climate so I thought he and I wouldn't stand a chance together. Still,

28*, feels like 18*, 90% humidity, SW 12 mph wind, cloudy, 1.5" new snow fell over night Last night when I got home from a pretty rough night at work and a long slippery drive home, there was a package on my doorstep. Now, I was THRILLED to see this package. After all, it was the thing that kept me going last night. "Maybe there will be a package on the doorstep!," I kept telling myself. And Lo
