After a day chilling I got a phone call from a Lady about the Allotment waiting list.I put my name on it 14 months ago!
I have arranged to meet her tomorrow morning to look at the two thirds of a plot!
The Allotment or Community garden is still thriving here, after going out of fashion there are waiting lists now to get some.
I have tons of seeds here that could be grown up there. Its just behind the hospital.
I think I have enough horticultural energy to split my time between the Home Garden and the Allotment.
The photo shows the garden today, with the colours on the left, and the foliage on the right.I had forgotten that I had applied. I thought the other day my name would be fading on the dusty waiting list paper.A nice suprise on the eve of my birthday. If I take it that would be a good Birthday present. More soil to grow Vegetables and Flowers!

37*, feels like 30*, 67% humidity, SE 9 mph wind, fair It's supposed to be 53* today later. I plan to take advantage of this nice weather, you can beet on it! I was thinking I should go to the heron rookery, to check out the nests today, as March is the best time to view the nest repairs without the confusion of leaves in the way. But Mr. Hyper, after seeing the pictures of the fun I had last

A handy tip.

I don't know about you folks with larger gardens, but those of us with small gardens can't hardly use up a whole packet of veggie seeds all at one time. There usually is some left over for another sowing or two. In the past, I would just fold the seed packets closed, but this has resulted in a whole lot of mystery seed in the bottom of my seed boxes. Sometimes I would tape the seed packets closed

If I hope to get ahead of the bermuda grass in my garden paths, I guess I better start in January. I just wish the folks who thought bermuda grass was a good idea had checked into that common name of "Devil Grass!"
My plan of attack is to cover the dormant grass in leaves, top with thick cardboard and more leaves. When the spring rains wet it all down I hope it will rot out the bermuda grass. This is the only non-chemical way I've found to overcome it. I got the idea from noticing that a thick layer of oak leaves that have matted down over the lawn and left patches of bermuda-free zone (for a while, at least).
I'll let you know what happens. Thanks for stopping by!

Today I got around to separating some of my seedlings-- the catnip and the daylillies. This is bad... Why? because I didn't expect so many, that's why. I misjudged how much space they would take. This was my plan: A shelf for perennial flowers (I already have a shelf and a half plus a kitchen windowsill), a shelf of herbs for my herb garden this year (already there is a half shelf of just catnip
