The thousand dollar dog is in big trouble. Mr. Hyper blamed the cats on getting into my ghetto grow light stand, knocking it down, eating my ferns, unpotting them, and eating most of the catnip plants soil and all. But I knew better. I was angry. I had been babying these plants, tenderly administering my love to them. I had

I'm going to talk about me for a few minutes, mainly because I'm in a meditative mood. Contemplating the state of things, perhaps brought on by the coming spring and the new job. You see, there are two sides to the coin of Girl Gone Gardening, an that is mainly why I keep two blogs. There used to be only one main blog,

All the world, except for in shady patches, was revealed yesterday. Expanses of yellow lawn, sidewalks, and roofs were uncovered from their cold crispy blanket and mounded piles of snow. Then the wind began, late, near the midnight witching hour when the coyote crosses through the yard on his nightly hunt and when

Sasha yesterday was not feeling good at all. She had the dry heaves, trying her best to throw up. I'm blaming the pain meds, I know they do the same thing to me. So I have not given her any today to see how she does though this morning she seems to be feeling better and ate with the appetite of a puppy. Yesterday, she was doing her hardest to get to some

I have some herbs already in the yard, this list will be of new ones I am starting this year.
Catnip- I've already started it in the house. The cats help me keep the seedlings pinched so they will grow bushy. These were Ferris Morris seeds.Peppermint Mentha x piperita-- Already started in the house. I wouldn't mind at all if this escaped into the lawn...The seeds were a freebie from Celestrial

I have a feeling, I'm going to have to do a LOT of digging this spring...to make more room for all of this stuff!
And I'm going to use this opportunity to plead for others to join my Giant Pumpkin Contest! Yes folks, sign up, it's still not to late! I know those of you in more southern climes will be starting yours soon but that's OK! The prize will be awarded when everyone, southern and

First, a warning: Blogger's spellcheck doesn't seem to be working right now for me. So proceed with caution if mispellings send you running for a red pen. Running with pens can lead to loss of eyes.

We have a gravel driveway, which, as anyone who has one knows, is a great incubator for weeds. So whenever my husband or I spot green stuff in the gravel around the yard, we reflexively bend down to pull it out. Tonight, as I reached down for a bit of errant grass, it jumped away. Ah, ha, not grass, but a
grasshopper - a very green one.
