The Hyacinths from my Secret Santa present are growing nicely now in the ceramic pot. The flower buds are starting to rise between the leaves. They look like five green boats floating on a murky sea of soil.
I hope to have flowers and scents soon. Its funny how much later these have flowered compared to the Bulbs I forced and the bought ones that were also forced. Maybe six or eight weeks later these laid back Hyacinths are near flowering!

... Flowers. Some Sunday Hyacinth flowers. The Spring bulbs seem to be popping up all around the garden. There is bird seed germinating in the red nets on the fence too!
The Hellebores have opened fully and are white as pure driven snow. My slow flowering blue shades Polyanthus have flower buds on two of the four plants.
It has just rained incessantly for days. The soil is waterlogged on the right side. It needs a lot of organic material added to help the drainage.
I have two days off soon to get back into the garden.. a few weeds have sprung up too with the wet conditions.
Back to work tonight for me :)

A Blue Hyacinth flower to go with Britt Arnhilds Blue blogs.
I have just been reading her many blogs about food, opera, and the garden. They are full of lovely warm storys. The house in the woods has 800 posts with lovely photos to illustrate the prose. Not bad for someone whos first language is Norwegion.

The Pink Pearl Hyacinth yesterday. I love how compact the flowers are, and there angular curves. The Blue ones are not anywhere near developing the flowers yet. They have the green leaves but no buds showing.
The Snappy one is about to go to work for a long day. Back around 9pm tonight. Its raining outside and very windy .
The garden is wet and windswept...

This Hyacinth flower is Fashionably Late for the show. It has a colour like crushed purple velvet...
I am going to Paris in Febuary and this reminds me of the Moulin Rouge,
http://www.moulinrouge.fr/home-flash-gb.htmlThe colourful flower with the gentle arching curves, and the light reflecting of the petals. It reminds me of Can Can Dancers with the bright costumes and Energy.
Henri Toulouse Lautrec pictures spring to mind. He had a great love of Life, and painted 19th Century Paris nightlife. He liked painting the dancers, and the people who attended the nightly Revues.
http://ftp1.us.proftpd.org/wm/paint/auth/toulouse-lautrec/ Hyacinths have such heady perfume, I think they smell like a cross between Lavender and Candy sticks. The kitchen has occasional whiffs of the Flowers perfume.
Maybe the Toulouse Lautrec Dancers and Women he sketched and painted had some perfume, reminiscent of the fragrant hyacinths.

One of my new plants flowering in the Kitchen A Blue Hyacinth. It smells like a cross between lavender and candy sticks.I bought one pink hyacinth bulb, and the Blue bulb. I still have bulbs to bring from the flat that are sat in a dark cupboard...
First post for twelve days.I have been busy moving, unpacking a few boxes, but mostly doing the Back garden. Everyone at work seem suprised that I can spend all my time in the Garden when its been wet, and cold...
The winter project continues. So much to blog about. I have photographed my progress from day one untill now. There has been work too in between the renovation, plant shopping, and transforming the garden.
I'm back online!

I finally bought some spring bulbs, at half price from Home Base. There are fourty Muscari Armeniacum, ten dwarf Toronto Tulips, ten dwarf Minnow Daffodils, fifteen Anemone Blanda Blue shades, and twenty five Chionodoxo Lucillae.
It was Half price, a bargain for five pounds. I got some Hyacinths for growing on indoors too. Every year I think I will try to grow some from bulbs. These were reduced to £2 each for 3 bulbs.
There are three Lavender coloured Hyacinth Ostara, and three Hyacinth Pink Pearl. These have been planted in two plastic boxes, the only thing I had shallow enough for the bulbs. There are special shallow pots you can buy for growing Hyacinths on. These plastic boxes are sat in the dark now waiting for some leaf growth.
I also bought a small potted plant in a silver pot. After being inspired by my earlier post about plants that remind you of Xmas. My friend in Scotland used to buy her Granny one of these plants every year. Its a Mexican native, and has a lovely legend attached to it!
