25*, feels like 15*, 45% humidity, NW 10 mph wind, partly cloudy, FLOOD WARNING Spring is close. I know it now. This morning I woke to that change in the air, that indescribable smell that wakes me every year when the spring switch is thrown. And though the day is most certainly NOT spring like, there was that smell. It's close. It's coming! Speaking of smells, I also got a whiff of summer as

37*, feels like 30*, 67% humidity, SE 9 mph wind, fair It's supposed to be 53* today later. I plan to take advantage of this nice weather, you can beet on it! I was thinking I should go to the heron rookery, to check out the nests today, as March is the best time to view the nest repairs without the confusion of leaves in the way. But Mr. Hyper, after seeing the pictures of the fun I had last

20*, 73% humidity, W 6 mph wind, fair Sasha yesterday was not feeling good at all. She had the dry heaves, trying her best to throw up. I'm blaming the pain meds, I know they do the same thing to me. So I have not given her any today to see how she does though this morning she seems to be feeling better and ate with the appetite of a puppy. Yesterday, she was doing her hardest to get to some

20*, feels like 16*, 86% humidity, SSW 6 mph wind, fog, FLOOD WARNING If it seems like I'm posting a lot today, it has to do with the fact that I'm antsy. I'm waiting for the weather to warm up and then I will be going hiking, checking out some fens I have heard of by word of mouth up in the dunes. It's supposed to be above freezing today. I'd like to enjoy that so I'm willing to wait a while.

60*, 86% humidity, SSW 16 mph wind, cloudy, FLOOD WATCH See this is the new African violet blooming. You can see how big the leaves are compared to the mini African violet that is down in the lower right hand corner there. This plant was a leaf cutting someone gave me.

31*, feels like 20*, 78% humidity, WSW 16 mph wind, cloudy I have a new lover. His name is Penstemon smallii. I bumped into him at the clearance table at the nursery in late summer. At first I wasn't too impressed with him. He seemed....cheep. So I did a background check on him and found out that they tend to like a more dry climate so I thought he and I wouldn't stand a chance together. Still,

37*, feels like 30*, 75% humidity, NW 10 mph wind, cloudy Yesterday while I was at work we had a skiff of snow fall. It stuck around until about noon before the light dusting melted away. I'm still antsy for lots of snow. Believe it or not, snow shoveling has become one of my favorite chores. It ranks right up there with leaf raking in my book. I just love it. I have fun while I do it, throwing

25*, feels like 19*, 69% humidity, SSW 5 mph wind, fair As you can tell from the temperature right now, I think winter is here! This morning dirt in the garden had that frost heave thing going on where the dirt is raised in bumps from freezing water in the ground. It's kind of cool looking actually. Most leaves are gone off the trees though the blueberries still cling stubbornly to a few bright
