Whats a garden without legumes?
Pea--An OP heirloom pea I've been growing for years, got it from my great grand mother. I nearly lost it but managed to get a good crop of seeds from the few plants I had last year. Purple bi color flowers, big flat edible pods, knee high plants.Bean- Jacob's Cattle--an OP kind that i got in

I went to waldeath today to pick up some rabbit bedding and found that they now have extra large African violet pots. Which was perfect timing as my big purple one needed a larger pot. Here it is now happily transplanted in the kitchen window with some friends. I am really appreciative of these bloomers this year.

As you can see, our weather is back to normal seasonal winter crud. I was afraid my outside plants would start thinking that it was time to grow which would be disasterous.
Yesterday I took the first step in raising my own meat here at GGG. Mr. Hyper and I drove up into Michigan to rescue a bunny that was heading for freezer camp with

OK, do you know how hard it is to find local foods this time of year? If it were just me, I could survive on beans and rice if I had to until I found a source of local meat. I'm sure it has to be out there somewhere, after all, there are farms around. But until I can find some, I'm just going to have to bite the bullet and buy meat. You see, Mr. Hyper

Outside the secrets are revealing themselves again and this time without the need for snow. The word of FREE EATS must have gotten out amidst the rabbit world and I am going to have to protect choice plants. Blueberries are being chewed back on the stems, something that if they were a heck of a lot bigger I wouldn't mind so much but they

Some of y'all may have seen these lists bumping around in the blogger world and so I too will list what makes me happy (or just 8 of them as it takes very little to make ol' girl gone gardening happy). Here they are in no particular order:
1) Starting plants from seed.
Sure, sometimes there is some cursing involved like "Oh crap-noodles! MOLD!" but overall it is an engaging and fun experience.

There is a secret in every garden. Things that most gardeners don't even get to see going on during the times we can't be in the garden. I don't just mean those secretive and shy garden fairies that stay always out of sight but other creatures of the night that might get over looked if they are doing no harm in the garden. You can get a
