Spring is close. I know it now. This morning I woke to that change in the air, that indescribable smell that wakes me every year when the spring switch is thrown. And though the day is most certainly NOT spring like, there was that smell. It's close. It's coming! Speaking of smells, I also got a whiff of summer as

Friday, at last. Not that this has been a bad week (except for my grumpy butt syndrome yesterday morning) I am just glad the weekend is here. Having a WHOLE weekend off is exciting to me. It hasn't happened in a long while. This weekend I hope to hit the Heron Rookery about 20 minutes away, where the herons should be busy

It was a difficult morning to wake up today. I slept a sound 8 hours, which is more then the norm for me. 6 hours in the winter, and 4-5 hours in the summer is my sleeping schedule. I was tempted to just stay in bed instead of getting myself motivated for the day. After all, I had things to do like feed the animals, water

28*, 83% humidity, calm wind, mostly cloudy, FLOOD WARNING
I've been pleasantly worn out the past couple of days. Not the kind of worn out that comes from sitting at a desk for 16 hour stretches at work, brain dead, wishing to be anywhere but there and then not being able to sleep. But the kind of worn feeling you get after a good day of hiking, where your body is moving, that makes you sleep

It's supposed to be 53* today later. I plan to take advantage of this nice weather, you can beet on it! I was thinking I should go to the heron rookery, to check out the nests today, as March is the best time to view the nest repairs without the confusion of leaves in the way. But Mr. Hyper, after seeing the pictures of the fun I had last

I don't know about you folks with larger gardens, but those of us with small gardens can't hardly use up a whole packet of veggie seeds all at one time. There usually is some left over for another sowing or two. In the past, I would just fold the seed packets closed, but this has resulted in a whole lot of mystery seed in the bottom of my seed boxes. Sometimes I would tape the seed packets closed

So much for the taste of spring that we had last weekend! We are now covered in a blanket of snow again, with howling winds. it is said that this is the snowiest year in 30 years. All I know is this is the snowiest winter yet I've had since moving to Indiana. So, in protest and FAITH that spring will return in a timely manner, I sowed

I have some herbs already in the yard, this list will be of new ones I am starting this year.
Catnip- I've already started it in the house. The cats help me keep the seedlings pinched so they will grow bushy. These were Ferris Morris seeds.Peppermint Mentha x piperita-- Already started in the house. I wouldn't mind at all if this escaped into the lawn...The seeds were a freebie from Celestrial
